Exford
Cascade cottage is set in the grounds of Edgcott House, 500
metres from the village of Exford where there are two shops, a
post office, garage and two Hotels which serve restaurant and bar
meals. The Bristol Channel coast at Porlock is about 9 miles to
the north, and we are situated in the very centre of Exmoor
National Park.
A brook, Edgcott Water runs beside the cottage and access to the front door is by a rustic footbridge. There is a small gravel area between the cottage and the brook ideal for al fresco breakfasts and suppers or maybe just that morning coffee or evening aperitif!
The large gardens of Edgcott House are open to guests in the cottage, as are our ten acres of paddocks and woodland and our lake.
Inside Cascade Cottage is fully
centrally heated and has a log effect gas fire in the sitting
room, and all the windows are double glazed. The kitchen diner
has an electric grill and cooker, microwave, dishwasher and all
the expected utensils, crockery etc.
There is a downstairs WC in the utility room along with a butler sink, clothes washer and tumble dryer.
Upstairs there are two fully en-suite
bedrooms. The River Room has double aspect views to the south
and to the west over the brook to a wooded paddock.
The other room also faces to the west and from it a stairs leads up to a smaller room, known as the Crows Nest, which has two single beds. It has to share the neighbouring rooms bathroom and is very suitable for one or two children, with Mum and Dad in the adjacent room.
