In this unique area can be found not only fine game fishing for salmon and sea trout but good coarse fishing and, on the coast, excellent sea fishing.

To fish on the rivers of Exmoor, National Rod Licences must be obtained from the Environment Agency as well as permits from the owners of fishing rights.

Most still water fisheries are covered by the agency’s general licences, but owners’ permits may be required in addition or in place of them. This includes some reservoirs owned by water companies.

With beach fishing off rocky headlands and stony beaches be careful with your tackle, and if you are after larger fish then you can always hire a boat – fishing trips are advertised in the harbour in Lynmouth and are dependent on tide times and ground swell.

NATIONAL BYELAWS TO PROTECT SALMON STOCKS

Catch and Release of salmon is mandatory to 16^th June.
Anglers are still encouraged to fish catch and release after 16^th June and especially to return any large red fish late in the season. When fishing for salmon permitted baits are restricted to artificial fly and artificial lure until 16^th June

COARSE FISHING
